A Visit to East Broad Top RR
Sunday June 7, 2009
A lovely summer's day in Central Pennsylvania for riding and/or chasing a train.
The dual gauge enginehouse at Mount Union. A site many people don't
even know exists... Inside this building sleeps the remaining EBT
standard gauge 0-6-0. There were signs of recent MOW activity, so maybe
the Mt Union Connecting Railway isn't quite as stillborn as advertised?

This
isn't a photo from this trip, rather one I took back around 2000.
It isn't a very good photo, but it's a rarely seen EBT subject...
The remaining Standard Gauge 0-6-0 switcher at Mt Union. Someday she
may awake from her long slumber......
Upon arriving at Orbisonia Station, we found that the EBT had a
handcar and track motor (speeder) out and were selling rides.

Soon we heard a whistle in the distance...

This was Kim's first visit to the Eastie, and she had a blast! Here she is taking a picture of the arriving mid-afternoon train.

After disembarking her happy passengers #15 was backed across the road to be watered and oiled around.

While waiting for departure we wandered around taking pictures of various interesting artifacts...

A couple views of the roundhouse and turntable:

M-3 was out in the sunshine, too:

Busy humble heroes, The FEBT:

Since we got held up in Harrisburg most of the morning, it was already
time for the last train of the day. Kim decided she'd rather chase (I
think she was tired, we'd been on the road since Thursday), even though
we had tickets. -- I think she gave them away.

The End

Thanks for stopping!
